It’s pronounced show-bin!
I currently coordinate the social media campaign for a nonprofit organization (and several of its members) in Connecticut. I graduated from Amherst College with a degree in Women’s and Gender Studies in 2010, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Interactive Media at Quinnipiac University. In short I am an aspiring web and graphic designer and a current “social media queen”!
My first love has got to be websites–building them, tweaking them, sharing them, developing shiny new designs and networking with other designers. I started out on Expages over ten years ago and I like to think I’ve grown quite a bit since! I’ve owned many websites over the years and have gotten plenty of graphic design experience under my belt too.
Over time I’ve come to love social media as well–and whether you love it or not, it’s definitely here to stay. With that in mind, my mission is to help those intimidated or worried about social media overcome their negative first impressions and embrace social media as an almost-entirely-free, fun, and personalized way to market themselves or their organization. In particular I specialize in helping nonprofits build their social media campaigns from the ground up, whether it means training staff on the very basics of what the phrase “social media” means (it’s not just a snappy catchphrase!), creating a Facebook page from scratch, or building a whole new website.
